In my last article I wrote about the need to keep on working during the retirement years. The subject generated a lot of interest; especially as it related to exactly what kind of jobs were available for aging Baby Boomers. How to make money in retirement years is an important subject.
As a followup to that article I scoured the internet to build an annotated list of articles, complete with live links, to provide information on how to make money. I’ve read each of these articles. They are all written within the last three years and will provide you with information as you seek your post-career job opportunity.
Here are the articles you must read to know how to make money in the retirement years.
This is a great article which provides an overview of the subject. It introduces the reader to the helpful phrase “phased retirement.” The author lays a lot of possibilities out on paper and couples them with diagnostic questions to guide you in the right direction.
A no-nonsense article which does exactly as the title suggests. Warning: the format is annoying because you must click a button each time to move the next career. The careers cover the gamut from simple (a craft business) to more complex (patient advocate.)
I love the title because it reminds us that work can be fun; even work in retirement. It’s a brief article which gives real-life examples on what some other people have done.
This article gives ideas more focused on white-collar interests. If you have been a professional and want to stay in that area, this article is helpful. It is one of the few articles I found which tells you how much money you can expect to make.
Retirement Jobs (Huffington Post)
This deceptively looking title might hide the best article in this list. Why? Because it is another example of what this article is: a reference list. It lists 30 articles, briefly annotated, with live links to articles on the subject. If you only click on one link in this article it ought to be this one.
The point of this article is this: there are many job opportunities for the retiree. Start planning now. Do your research on how to make money. You might be surprised to find your best job ever!
